One of the biggest fears among computer users is being infected by a pc virus or program designed to destroy or steal their personal data. 

Viruses are malicious software programs that have been designed to either destroy or steal your data or hold it to ransom and to spread themselves to other computers where they can repeat the process.

Historically, the virus was distributed through shareware, pirated software, e-mail, P2P programs, or other programs where users share data, but now it is often installed via malicious code on an infected web page. Sometimes this code is activated merely by viewing the page, referred to as a 'drive by' infection.

The biggest source of infection is from email attachments -'DHL could not deliver...', 'Your tickets are ready...' 'Your bank access records are attached...' etc. emails with an attachment purporting to carry the information. It normally leads to an infection - often of a so called (fake) antivirus programme that 'finds' all sorts of threats and errors on your pc and offers to remove them for about $49.50.

Don't be tempted! You'll end up with a pc full of malicious software and an empty credit card!

If you are experiencing some or all of the problems listed below, chances are that your pc, laptop or netbook is infected with a virus, spyware, adware, trojan, malware, ransom-ware, fake anti-virus or other unwanted malicious program.

• can't get on the internet or get re-directed to pages you don't request on internet
• you cannot visit the websites of anti-virus software vendors
• running slow, locking up, "blue screen" or crashing
• computer restarts on its own and then fails to run normally

• If you have no anti-virus protection, installation and configuration of MS Security Essentials. This is a free AV from Microsoft and is automatically updated daily or whenever a new virus is identified, ensuring you have the best possible protection against viruses and spyware. (If you prefer, we can supply any other Anti-Virus software that you request. The software will be registered in your name, and we will invoice you for the extra software cost along with the service)

• any additional software or hardware required. Normally none is required.
• repair of the operating system which requires a complete re-installation. This can be carried out at a discounted rate which you will be advised of before any work commences. You must also provide us with the original Windows installation disks, and their unique installation number, or your pc must contain the manufacturers original data image.
• any guarantee to recover lost files or programs which have been destroyed by the infection.
• back-up of your data. We do not back-up your data, so please ensure you have saved all important files to memory stick before we start work on your PC.
  We cannot be held responsible for files lost or deleted during work on your computer though we will endeavour wherever possible to leave your files unchanged. Occasionally it may be necessary to delete or over-write files during the process. Booking our service is acknowledgement of these risks.

* This price is based on you dropping off your pc or notebook at the office. We can collect and return from your office or home if this is not possible for a flat fee of £20 in our call out area.

** Occasionally a virus has done so much damage that the drive will need formatting and windows re-installed. We will inform you of this if it happens and before we continue. (A full clean install of your operating system is not included in the fixed service price as it is a time consuming process, but we will quote you a competitive rate to complete this work if it is necessary)
